Top Wordpress Plugins
If you have a Wordpress blog, then your probably are well aware of the vast amount of Wordpress plugins you can download for it. Here are a few must haves and how to use them for maximum benefit.
For those that don't know, Installing any of these Wordpress couldn't be easier. Log on into your Wordpress blog and click plugins on the left screen. Under plugins, click add new. Type in the plugins listed below and click search. When you see the results come up, click on install which is directly to the right of the title and your done.
Once installed click plugins again, look for the plugin your just installed and be sure to click enable and you will be set to go. Here are the top Wordpress plugins you must have.
All in one Seo Pack - If you are only going to install one Wordpress plugin, then I suggest it better be this one. This amazing plugin allows you to alter titles, descriptions, blog titles, post titles and so much more. Once enables, click the settings tab, on the left dashboard, and click seo pack. Here be also sure to enable the plugin, add your blog title, description of your blog, and your relevant keywords. Also, be sure to do this for every single one of your post. When you are viewing a post the seo pack can be found at the very bottom. You are now seo optimized.
XML Sitemap - Think of this plugin as a map for Google. It lets the crawlers know that you have information they need to look at. This also lets all the search engines know when your blog has been updated. Once installed make sure you have all these boxes checked:
Rebuild sitemap if you change content
Notify Google, Bing, Ask, Yahoo about updates
Build the sitemap in a background process.
This plugin alone should help your ranking as well as increased traffic.
Peramalinks - This is another powerful Wordpress plugin designed to alter what you see in the URL giving you powerful seo . Once installed click on Permalinks and you can start altering how your post are displayed. For example, some post will show numbers, dates, archive numbers, and array of other crap you don't need. Here is a nice little trick I learned to help get the maximum number of keywords in the URL. Click on custom structure and type in /%category%/%postname%
Now all your post will show your main site, plus the category, plus the name of the post in the URL giving you maximum benefit seo wise. If you don't want your categories showing, or have none defined, simple change it to /%postname%. Also be sure to never title any of your post the same, it can create a lot of confusion.
Pretty Links - This nifty little plug-in allows you to create tracking links using your own domain name. Once installed simple click add link, fill out the target URL and pretty link and your all set. You can track up to as many links as you can make, which is great for seeing who is clicking on what.
WP- DB Manger - In other words, Word-press database manager that allows you to optimize and fully backup all your work. After all, you don't want to be losing all of your hard work. After you install and activate this plug-in, you can find it on the bottom left hand column, rightly called, backup. Click it, and then click on back up. Scroll down and click on back up, this will create a back up file for you instantly. I would suggest backing your data up once and month to account for any unforeseen problems. Now, here is the cool part. On the left hand side again, click on Manage Backup. Here you now have the ability to restore your blog back from this point, email the back up to another person, or server, or even download it to your current computer. If anything should ever go wrong with your blog you have all your data saved and can update your blog from any of the backup points your have created.
Now here is where this plug-in gets even better. On the left hand side again click optimize DB. You will now see and option screen with a bunch of yes or no's. Scroll down to the bottom and click optimize. This removes your overhead, crap you don't want that slows down word-press. If don't optimize it can cause massive problems and headaches in the future. Those are the basic options for newbies, designed to give you the optimal Word-press blog ever!! Remember, backup and optimize once a month.
Well there you have it, just a few Wordpress Plugins to make your Wordpress blog unstopable. If you have any questions dont hesitiate to ask. I know reading insturctions is much harder than seeing a video of having pictures.
Like Wordpress, try Wordpress Direct. A fully automated, seo friendly blog that updates new and relevant content automatically so you don't have too.
